We recommend that you insure your car including COE and PARF.
If there is a total loss claim due to theft or severe damage, the insurer will pay the full market value of the vehicle prevailing at the time of the loss or damage, inclusive of COE and PARF values. You will not be required to make separate claims for these items from the Land Transport Authority (LTA).
If you prefer to insure without the COE and PARF, there is a 5% reduction of premium. In this case, you will have to make your own claim for the COE and PARF from LTA in the event of a total loss.

DriveShield is a comprehensive motor insurance product to cover your Singapore-registered private motor vehicle. There is a choice of two plans under DriveShield, the Value Plan or the Premier Plan.
Value Plan - All claims related to repairs must be carried out at any of the MSIG authorised workshops. There are more than 30 MSIG authorised workshops islandwide for your convenience.
Premier Plan - Drivers can choose their own workshop (including the manufacturer's agent in Singapore) for accident repairs. It also provides enhanced coverage such as personal accident benefits; transport allowance; new for old replacement and loan protection benefit.
The Premier Plan costs a little more than the Value Plan.
DriveShield is a comprehensive motor insurance covering:
This benefit pays the difference of up to S$100,000 between the market value and salvage value of the Insured Vehicle at the time of a total loss or construction total loss caused by an accident occurring within 12 months from its first registration. This benefit does not apply to total loss or constructive total loss caused by flood, theft or robbery of the Insured Vehicle. This benefit is only applicable to Premier Plan.
Details can be found here: Policy Wording (Premier Plan)
This benefit pays the outstanding car loan up to S$200,000 in the event of the death of the policyholder within 3 months from an accident involving the Insured Vehicle. This benefit is only applicable to Premier Plan.
Details can be found here: Policy Wording (Premier Plan)
The windscreen benefit covers the cost of reinstating any glass in the windscreen or window(s) or glass roof of your Insured Vehicle including the In-Vehicle Unit (if applicable). There is an excess of S$100 per claim. The good news is windscreen cover claims do not affect your No Claim Discount entitlement.
The following Automobile Assistance Services are provided purely on a referral or arrangement basis by MSIG’s appointed assistance company. MSIG Insurance (Singapore) Pte Ltd and its appointed assistance company shall not be responsible for any third party expenses which shall be solely the Insured's responsibility:
Please refer to the Policy for full details of cover.
Emergency medical evacuation is provided by MSIG’s appointed assistance company for the air and/or surface transportation and communication for moving the Insured when in a Serious Injury, as a result of an accident arising from the use of the Insured Vehicle within the Geographical Area (excluding Singapore) to the nearest hospital where appropriate medical care is available. MSIG’s appointed assistance company shall pay for the medically necessary expenses of such medical evacuation and repatriation incurred for up to S$50,000. Please refer to the Policy for full details of cover.
An Excess is the first amount of any claim for which you have to bear. For example, if the claim amount is S$5,000 and your excess is S$500, you need to pay the first S$500 and the balance of S$4,500 can be claimed from your insurer. The excess applicable will be specified in your Policy Schedule.
Your vehicle will be insured up to its prevailing market value at the time of the loss or damage, unless otherwise specified.
Market value is the cost of replacing the Insured Vehicle with a car of the same make and model similar in condition, specification, and age of the motor vehicle immediately prior to the accident. It is determined by the recent transactions sourced from publications such as newspapers, motoring guides and information from car dealers.
If you have accumulated 50% NCD, you may choose to buy protection against the loss of the discount, subject to payment of an additional premium.
With the NCD Protector benefit, you can make one claim during the policy year and still have your 50% NCD fully intact. If two claims are made within the same period, the NCD will reduce to 20% on renewal; if 3 or more claims are made within the same period, the NCD will reduce to zero on renewal.
Please refer to the Policy for full details.
