To play, you must log on to the game’s web application (go.posb.com.sg/HuntYourZodiac) with your Facebook account.

You can then begin to walk around the premises to search for the 12 virtual zodiac animals. During the game, Smiley will be your guide. You will see visual cues that will indicate the proximity to a zodiac animal and be informed when one has been found.

Catch the zodiac animals to give you a personalised Chinese horoscope prediction, based not only on your zodiac animal, but also the zodiac element (metal, wood, fire, water, earth) that corresponds to your birth date.

On top of that, some of the zodiac animals will be holding red packets.

If you successfully “hunt” a zodiac animal with a virtual angbao, you will receive an angbao barcode that you can present to redeem a chance to win cash prizes or vouchers at our POSB booths. Please note that this virtual angbao barcode must be redeemed on the same day of your gameplay. The cash prizes will be in the form of QR Gift cards, which you will be able to redeem using your DBS PayLah! app. You will be able to redeem a maximum of ONE prize per day for each day’s gameplay (from 23 – 27 January 2020).

  1. What is #HuntYourZodiac?

#HuntYourZodiac is a first-of-its-kind event where players can hunt for zodiac animals in a virtual hunting ground from 23 to 27 Jan 2020 in River Hongbao 2020.

Players who have hunted a zodiac animal will be given a dedicated prediction for the new year and stand a chance to receive cash prizes and gift vouchers from POSB. There is over $60,000 worth of prizes to be given away.

  2. Where and when does it take place?

#HuntYourZodiac is taking place during operating hours of River Hongbao 2020 at The Float @ Marina Bay. The game will last from 23 to 27 Jan 2020.

  3. How do I start hunting?

Once you have arrived at River Hongbao 2020, visit the game website (go.posb.com.sg/HuntYourZodiac) and log in via Facebook. Then, start walking around The Float @ Marina Bay and observe visual cues on the website that indicate your proximity to a zodiac animal. Once a zodiac animal has been hunted, you can view the Chinese horoscope predictions for that zodiac animal based on your zodiac element.

If your zodiac animal carries an angbao with it, you can redeem a prize at the POSB booth. Please note that this virtual angbao received from the zodiac animal MUST be redeemed on the same day of your gameplay.

  4. What are zodiac elements?

Did you know that zodiac animals alone do not complete your Chinese horoscope prediction? #HuntYourZodiac offers dedicated predictions based not only on your zodiac animal, but also the zodiac element (metal, wood, fire, water, earth) corresponding to your birth date. Hunt for your zodiac animal, then tap on the element based on your birth date to receive a prediction catered to you!

  5. Am I supposed to look for a token or object?

Zodiacs are mythical creatures, so you're not looking for any physical object or animal. Instead, walk around The Float while the website guides you until you have found a zodiac animal.

  6. My zodiac animal came with an angbao. What should I do with it?

Congratulations! Tap on the link shown in the dialog box to obtain your angbao barcode. Once that is done, head over to the POSB booth with the angbao barcode to redeem a prize. Please note that this angbao barcode is only valid on the same day that you receive it from the zodiac animal that you have hunted. This angbao barcode MUST be redeemed for the prize on the same day. As there is a limited quantity of prizes to be redeemed every day, you are advised to redeem your angbao barcode as soon as possible.

  7. How do I redeem the prize at the POSB booth?

Easy peasy! All you have to do is to show the staff the angbao barcode on your mobile device. Then you randomly select a “letter ball” at the POSB booth. You will be given a prize from the box that corresponds to the letter that you have picked.

Please note that as there is a limited quantity of prizes to be redeemed every day, you are advised to redeem your angbao barcode as soon as you receive it.

  8. What prizes are there?

The prizes include QR Gift cards from POSB and cash vouchers from merchants such as Gong Cha, SISTIC and Teo Heng.

  9. How much does each QR Gift card contain?

Each QR Gift card contains between S$2 to S$8 cash value. There is ONE daily top prize of S$888 to be won. Use the DBS PayLah! app to scan the QR code enclosed on the QR Gift card for the cash to be credited into your DBS PayLah! wallet.

  10. How do I use QR Gift card?

Download the DBS PayLah! app and use it to scan the QR code enclosed on the QR Gift card. Follow the instructions, and the cash will be credited into your DBS PayLah! wallet. You may approach any staff at the POSB booth for assistance.

  11. I lost my angbao barcodes, how do I retrieve it?

Do not worry! Simply tap on the menu icon located on the top right hand corner of the map, then tap on “Your Angbao Barcode”. From there, you will be able to find the angbao barcode received from the zodiac animal. Do not forget to show this angbao barcode to the staff at the POSB booth to redeem for a prize. Unredeemed angbao barcodes expire and cannot be brought over to the next day.

  12. Does it mean that my angbao barcode will expire if I do not redeem it on the same day?

Yes, you are absolutely right. Your angbao barcode has to be redeemed on the same day as you receive it. Unredeemed angbao barcodes, as mentioned earlier, cannot be brought over to the next day.

  13. How many angbao barcodes can I receive?

Each day, you are entitled to redeem only ONE angbao barcode at the POSB booth. Likewise, only one zodiac animal will bring along an angbao to you each day. Try your very best to hunt it down!

Nonetheless, even for those who may have already hunted a zodiac animal that brought along an angbao, you may continue to hunt other zodiac animals to receive dedicated predictions for you and your loved ones.

  14. The zodiac animals are so difficult to find!

Fret not! If you are having trouble, Smiley (our squirrel mascot friend) will be able to help you. He can offer you challenges that can help you gain a “power-up” in your hunt.

  15. Power-ups? What do they do and how do I use them?

Power-ups will make the zodiac animals magically attract themselves to you, making hunting them much easier. You can obtain and use power-ups by completing Smiley’s challenges.

  16. What are the red zones?

The red zones are non-playable areas. You will not be able to hunt any zodiac animals when you are walking within those areas.

  17. I would like to hunt for a different zodiac animal. What should I do?

If you have hunted a zodiac animal you were not looking for, close the dialog and continue to walk around. You may even make use of the virtual map to find out roughly where the other zodiac animals may be hanging out.

During your hunt, you can also figure out the zodiac animal that you are about to hunt based on the humongous silhouette located right beside Smiley!

  18. My question hasn’t been answered by the FAQ, what can I do now?

Send us a private message on Sqkii’s Facebook or Instagram and we will do our best to reply you as soon as possible.

Prosperity in Packets: Hongbao Giving in Chinese Culture

Ever wondered how red packet gifting started?

Visit the exhibition hall, themed “The Significance of Hongbao Giving in Chinese Culture”, another new highlight at River Hongbao 2020.

Co-curated by the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, the Lianhe Zaobao Student Correspondents’ Club, and students from the Singapore Chinese Girls’ School, our exhibition will trace the origins and evolution of red packet gifting.

See how the same tradition can be done differently with the evolution of technology, and learn how to gift and receive QR Gifts with Smiley through an augmented reality platform.

How DBS QR Gift works

Using DBS PayLah!, simply scan a unique QR code on a DBS QR Gift card to ‘load’ a cash value of up to S$999.

You may then send the DBS QR Gift card to your loved ones, who can scan the same QR code with their own DBS PayLah! app to receive the loaded amount. Givers may start loading their desired cash values onto the DBS QR Gift cards. Receivers will need to scan the QR code with their DBS PayLah! app to receive their funds, or it will be credited back to the giver.
