Frequently Asked Questions

Mobile Protect is an insurance product which offers protection to your mobile phone in the event of accidental damage and/or loss or theft. In addition, you are also entitled to other coverages such as PayLah! E-Wallet protection, cash out robbery cover and loss of important documents.


In the event of accidental damage

Your mobile phone will be repaired by Chubb’s authorised service vendor. A deductible of S$75 is applicable for each and every repair.

If your mobile phone is unrepairable, you will be offered a replacement mobile phone of the same or similar specification as your insured mobile phone. Kindly note that the replacement mobile phone may be new or refurbished. A deductible of S$150 is applicable for each and every replacement.

In the event of loss or theft

Your mobile phone will be replaced by Chubb’s authorised service vendor. You will be offered a replacement mobile phone of the same or similar specification as your insured mobile phone. Kindly note that the replacement mobile phone may be new or refurbished. A deductible of S$150 is applicable for each and every replacement.


Any damage to or loss of data held on your mobile phone, including but not limited to any pictures, software, downloads, apps and music is excluded from the policy coverage.


To be eligible, applicants must be:

  1. Singapore residents; and
  2. 18 years old and above.

Your mobile phone specifications must fulfil the following criteria:

  • The age of your mobile phone must be no more than 36 months* at the commencement date;
  • The retail value of the mobile phone is less than S$2,500
  • Your mobile phone was purchased either:
  1. new from a manufacturer, a mobile phone network or a retail store; or
  2. refurbished from a manufacturer or a mobile phone network; or
  3. from a private transaction where the proof of the original purchase date of the device from a retailer, manufacturer or mobile phone network can be provided.

*36 months is determined between the date range of (1) the original purchase date of the mobile phone and (2) the commencement date of your policy.


Each Mobile Protect policy will only cover up to one mobile phone and is based on the IMEI number which you provide to Chubb.


If you purchase a different mobile phone within 12 months from the commencement date of your policy, please ensure that you notify Chubb within 14 working days from the date of purchase. You are entitled to change your IMEI number twice during any single 12-month period.


All customers who purchase Mobile Protect are entitled to a free annual subscription for Trend Micro Mobile Security (limited to one device per policy).

Trend Micro Mobile Security:

  • scans your registered device for potential online identity theft or phishing scams;
  • blocks fraudulent websites;
  • enables secured web browsing; and
  • safeguards your privacy on social media.

Kindly note that the free annual subscription is only applicable for the first year of your policy coverage, and it will not be available for subsequent renewals of your policy.


In the event you cancel your Mobile Protect policy and your free Trend Micro Mobile Security has not been activated, you would have up to 60 days, from the effective date of your policy cancellation, to activate this license. Thereafter, Chubb reserves the rights to revoke the free mobile protection software license.


You can pay for the policy on either monthly or annual basis by credit or debit card.

You can also pay for your policy on annual basis through PayLah! wallet, however you would be required to ensure that you have sufficient funds for deductions.


You are entitled to a 14-day free look period. During this period, should you decide not to continue with the policy, you can request for cancellation and the premium charged will be refunded to you provided you have not made a claim.


Mobile Protect provides worldwide coverage, unless the incident leading to a claim takes place in a country where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Singapore had issued a travel advisory, prior to your departure.


If your policy is an annual policy you may cancel this policy by giving Chubb at least 30 days prior notice, or if your policy is a monthly policy, you may cancel this policy by giving Chubb prior notice at any time, via email at dbscs.sg@chubb.com or by calling Chubb on +65 6398 8797 (Mondays to Fridays, 9.00am to 5.00pm; excluding Public Holidays). 


Depending on the nature of your claim, the policy limits may be applied:

  • per event in the case of damage, loss and theft; and
  • on a reimbursement basis (up to the policy limits) in the case of the unauthorised use, cash out robbery, loss of documents and PayLah! E-Wallet benefits as set out in the policy schedule.

You are only allowed to claim up to 3 events of damage, loss or theft of mobile phone in a single 12-month period starting from the policy commencement date or renewal date, whichever is latest whether you purchase a monthly or an annual policy. Only one event of loss or theft is allowed.

 

How to Claim

You can submit your claims via the Chubb Assist hotline at +65 6398 8797. Chubb may provide a claim form for your completion, should there be a need to, depending on the nature of the claims. 


Prior to contacting Chubb Assist to make a claim, you must report the loss or theft of your mobile phone, cash out robbery and/or theft of important documents to the police.

To report loss or theft in Singapore, please lodge an electronic report via the Singapore Police Force website:

  • Loss of your mobile phone, refer to Lost Property Report
  • Theft of your mobile phone, cash out robbery or theft of important documents (identity card, driving license or passport), refer to Police Report

Please have the police report reference number, IMEI number of your mobile phone and your policy details ready when you contact Chubb Assist.


In respect to the benefits of:

  1. Unauthorised use of mobile phone due to loss or theft
  2. PayLah! E-Wallet protection
  3. Cash out robbery cover
  4. Important document cover

Upon receiving your claim request and all the supporting documentations, the claim assessment will commence and will be finalised within 5 – 7 business days.

Once your claim is accepted, you will be reimbursed via cheque or bank transfer within the next 5 – 7 business days.

In respect of the benefits of:   

  1. Damage of mobile phone
  2. Loss or theft of mobile phone
  3. Cover for mobile phone accessories

Chubb would generally process the claim request within the same business day. The turnaround time for repair and replacement ranges between 3 – 5 business days.
