  1. What is BBM Travel Insurance?

    BBM Travel Insurance is a travel insurance plan designed to cover a single return trip to Batam, Bintan or Malaysia ("BBM") and is exclusively available on POSB website. The underwriter for this plan is MSIG Insurance (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.

  2. What is so special about this travel insurance plan?

    It provides comprehensive travel insurance cover at a low-price, ideal for travellers going to Batam, Bintan or Malaysia.

  3. Who can buy BBM Travel Insurance?

    Any person aged 18 years and above can buy this insurance.

  4. Can foreigners buy BBM Travel Insurance?

    Yes, foreigners ordinarily residing in Singapore and holding an employment pass or work permit can buy BBM Travel Insurance. Please note that this insurance will only cover for a round trip commencing and returning to Singapore within the period of insurance.

  5. What are the types of Cover available?

    You have a choice of Individual and Family Cover.

    • Individual Cover: Provides cover for one Insured Person and up to 5 of his/her travelling companions who are travelling together on a Journey.
    • Family Cover: Provides cover for a Family, comprising the Insured, his/her legal spouse and all their legal Child(ren) who are travelling together on a Journey.
  6. What is the meaning of "Child"?

    For BBM Travel Insurance, Child means the Adult applicant's legal child who is unmarried and unemployed, above 1 month old and below 18 years or up to 23 years of age if studying full time in a recognised institution of higher learning, at the commencement of any Journey.

  7. Can I buy Individual Cover for my Child only?

    Yes, you can buy Individual Cover for your legal Child. However, if the Child is under the age of 12 years, a parent or Adult guardian must accompany the Child during the Journey. The benefits payable under the Policy will be subject to the limit for "Child Insured Person".

  8. Can I buy BBM Travel Insurance for my business trip?

    Yes, BBM Travel Insurance provides cover for both leisure and business. However, certain professions are excluded, such as persons engaging in military service or operations, manual work, offshore work, mining, aerial photography, flying or other aerial activities (except travelling as a fare paying passenger on a commercial airline). Please refer to the Policy for full details of Exclusions.

  9. I am above 70 years old. Can I buy BBM Travel Insurance?

    There is no age limit for application. However, if you are aged 70 years old and above, you will enjoy lower coverage on certain benefits. Please refer to the Policy for details of coverage.

  10. Can I buy BBM Travel Insurance when I am at the immigration and customs, just before departing from Singapore?

    Yes, you may buy BBM Travel Insurance so long as you have not crossed the immigration and customs, and provided at the time of applying the insurance, you are not aware of any circumstances which are likely to lead to a claim.

  11. Can I buy BBM Travel Insurance in advance?

    Yes, travel must commence no later than 90 days from the date of application for BBM Travel Insurance.

  12. Are leisure sports such as snorkeling and trekking covered under BBM Travel Insurance?

    Yes, these leisure sports are covered. However, hazardous activities such as rafting or canoeing involving white water rapids, bungee jumping, jet skiing, underwater activities involving artificial breathing apparatus, ski racing, backcountry skiing or off-piste skiing, ski jumping and the use of bobsleigh or skeleton, hunting, pot-holing, mountaineering or rock climbing that requires the use of ropes or guides, are excluded. Please refer to the Policy for full details of the Exclusions.

  13. What is a Single Return Trip Policy?

    A Single Return Trip Policy covers the entire return trip (not exceeding 31 consecutive days) from the time during the Period of Insurance that the Insured Person leaves his/her Home or workplace in Singapore for the sole purpose of commencing a trip abroad to three (3) hours after the Insured Person arrives back in Singapore or on the expiry date of the Period of Insurance shown in the Schedule, whichever is sooner.

  14. I make frequent trips to Batam, Bintan and/or Malaysia. Do you offer Annual Plan?

    There is no Annual Plan for BBM Travel Insurance. If you travel frequently, you may wish to buy TravellerShield Annual Policy for attractive savings and convenience as you will be automatically covered for all your trips taken during the Period of Insurance. You can make unlimited number of trips during the Period of Insurance, provided each trip does not exceed 90 consecutive days from the departure date.   15. How can I inform MSIG Insurance if I need to amend my Policy's travel details?

    Before trip commences
    You can only change the commencement date if you notify MSIG Insurance prior to the commencement of your trip or Period of Insurance, whichever is the sooner.

    While overseas
    Only trip extension is permissible once the trip commences. It is permitted midway during travel and within the period of insurance provided there are no known circumstances or events likely to lead to claim, subject to a minimum additional premium of S$10.

    You should quote your full name and NRIC/Passport No. for identification. Please ensure you receive a confirmation from MSIG Insurance for the changes and pay the additional premium, if applicable. There will be no refund of premium for any changes.

  16. Will there be any refund of premium if I cancel my policy?

    You may cancel the policy at any time prior to commencement of the Period of Insurance by giving written notice of cancellation and MSIG Insurance will retain a minimum premium of S$50. No refund will be given if the policy has commenced or if a claim is made.

    For payment using credit cards, please disable the pop-up blocker for the transaction to go through smoothly.

    For payment using DBS Paylah!, please ensure that DBS Paylah! app is installed in your smartphone with a registered wallet account.

  2. What will be reflected on my cardholder’s credit card statement when I make payment via credit card?

    The credit card deduction will be displayed in the cardholder’s credit card statement as “MSIG Insurance”.

  3. What is DBS PayLah!?

    DBS PayLah! is a personal mobile wallet which allows users to perform funds transfer via a mobile number. It is available to both DBS/POSB and non-DBS/POSB customers. To find out more about DBS PayLah!, click here.

  4. How do I pay using DBS PayLah!?

    1. Select DBS Paylah! payment option at BBM Travel Insurance’s Payment Details section and on the TeleMoney Electronic Payments Page.
    2. Input your DBS PayLah! mobile number when prompted and click “Confirm”. You will be directed to your DBS PayLah! app for login.
    3. Once logged in, verify your payment details on the Review Payment Page and tap on “Pay Now”. Click on “Done” to complete the payment on the Payment Complete screen.
    4. The TeleMoney Electronic Payments Page will state that “Your Transaction is successful”. Click on “OK” to continue.
    5. You will be directed to an Acknowledgement Page showing your BBM Travel Insurance application details. At the same time, an SMS confirmation will be sent to your mobile number.
  5. What if I have insufficient funds in my DBS PayLah! wallet?

    You will have to top up your DBS Paylah! wallet using your DBS PayLah! app before proceeding with payment. To find out how to do so, click here.

  6. Do I need to pay an administrative fee for using DBS PayLah!?

    There is no administrative fee for paying your travel insurance premium using DBS PayLah!.

  7. How do I know that my application has been successfully processed?

    You will receive an email and SMS acknowledgement once your payment and transaction is successfully processed.

  8. When will I receive my policy?

    You will receive your BBM Travel Insurance policy document via your email once your application has been successfully processed. You may also download a copy of the specimen Policy terms and conditions here.

  9. For credit card payment, who can I contact if I encounter technical problems online?

    You may send via e-mail, detailing your technical problems, to or call NETS Call Centre at 6274 1212 during office hours.
