Yes! You can apply for a Smart Buddy card or watch online. Your child can then use it for payments at over 10,000 NETS retailers across Singapore, outside of school.
Yes, they can. However, the "Auto-transfer Savings" feature won't be available. Any savings your child accumulates will stay in your linked bank account.
Note: To enjoy automatic savings transfers to your child, simply open a "My Account" for them. It will instantly link with their Smart Buddy.
You can submit an online request to link their bank account. Once approved, activate "Auto-transfer Savings" in the Smart Buddy app. With this activated, your child's monthly savings will automatically move from your account to theirs by the 10th of the following month. Please ensure you have enough money in your deduction account during the first 10 days of the month for a smooth transfer.
Note: Your child's account for receiving savings cannot be the same as the account you use for Smart Buddy deductions.
Note: Please do not select a digiVault account for deductions as it is not supported. Your Smart Buddy card/payment chip appears as a "POSB ATM card" in digibank. To find it, match the 9th to 15th digits of your physical card number with the corresponding entry in the app (e.g., if your card shows XXXXXXXX 00428675, look for POSB ATM CARD 00428670 in digibank).
No, Smart Buddy is not designed for public transport use.

This happens when canteen terminals are temporarily offline. Your child's purchases are still processed, but the money is deducted from your account later, once the terminals are back online. This might sometimes make it look like your child has gone over their daily allowance.
This is likely due to an "[OFFLINE $]" transaction. Your child probably made a purchase when the terminal was temporarily offline, and the payment was processed with a delayed deduction. You can compare your Smart Buddy app transaction history with your bank statement to find the matching transaction.

Students who buy digital Smiley Stamps might also receive physical ones (while stocks last). Only digital Smiley Stamps have a value of S$0.50 each; physical stamps are just for fun.
If your child's account isn't linked, all Stamp Savings will be credited back to your (the parent's) linked Smart Buddy deduction account by the 10th of the following month.
Yes, the change is instant. Your child can use their updated allowance right away.
No, your account is only charged when your child makes a purchase. For example, if your child spends S$1.50 on chicken rice, only S$1.50 will be deducted. The remaining S$3.50 allowance will stay in your bank account and be shown as "Allowance Savings" in the "Savings" section of the Smart Buddy app.
No. Once the allowance is used up, no more transactions can be made with their Smart Buddy card or watch until you increase it through the app.
Note: Occasionally, "[OFFLINE $]" and "Daily/Weekly allowance limit exceeded" might appear in their transaction history. This happens when purchases are made while canteen terminals are offline, and the system updates later.

Yes, you can view your child's in-school transactions for all linked Smart Buddy, School Smartcard, and EZ-Link cards directly within the app.
Please note the following:
The card number is located on the back of the payment chip inside the watch.
Place the payment chip on the tray and carefully slide it back in. If you're not sure which generation your watch is, please check the user guide.
Yes, it is provided free of charge for all Smart Buddy applicants who choose the watch with chip option.
It is only splash and water-resistant. Children should avoid wearing it in the shower or swimming pool.
To sync watch data to the app, you must use the same account that was used during the initial watch setup, whether it was the parent's or the child's access account.
You can temporarily disable the watch by switching "Disable Account" to "On" in your child's profile. If found, simply switch it back to "Off."
Note: Disabling only stops use in school and at NETS retailers. MRT/Bus rides will not be disabled.
Your watch is covered by a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects. (Please note that damage from rough play voids the warranty, and straps are not covered).
You have two responsible disposal options:
Note: If you're getting a new watch, remember to remove the payment chip from the old watch and insert it into the new one before setting it up in the app.
Beyond the Smart Buddy watch, there are other convenient options to hold the Smart Buddy payment chip:
