POSB PAssion Kids Fund

What is the POSB PAssion Kids Fund?

Managed independently as part of the People's Association Community Development Fund (PACDF), the fund is a registered charity under the Charities Act and has been conferred Institutions of a Public Character (IPC) status. The fund supports children (0-16 years old) and have benefited over 404,000 children through 108 programme/events to date.

Notable Programmes supported by POSB PAssion Kids Fund

Sponsor a Buddy

POSB and People’s Association (PA), in its 9th year of collaboration, encouraged the spirit of giving back to the community through a newly introduced ‘Sponsor a Buddy’ programme. Under this programme, POSB PAssion Run for Kids participants were able to co-sponsor underprivileged children and their parents to participate in the 3.5km Family Walk segment. The ‘Buddies’ were identified through community clubs islandwide and PA’s community partners who connected with grassroots organisations on the ground.

POSB Kidstarter

Last year, in celebration of POSB’s 140th anniversary, POSB and People’s Association (PA) joined hands in this community initiative to teach more than 140 children on the concepts of managing money and their finances wisely through a structured programme. Termed ‘POSB Kidstarter’, the children also learnt basic coding skills as part of the programme and put theory learning into practice by creating animations and games that further the message of thrift and savings. These creative innovations were showcased to public at the POSB PAssion Run for Kids on 10 Sep 2017. The children were also encouraged to record their finance management for 12 weeks where POSB will then reward them for their good saving habits with a dollar-to-dollar matching.

Walk for Wishes

The People’s Association Youth Movement (PAYM) and the Youth Executive Committees (YECs) organised Walk for Wishes on 5 March 2017 to fulfil wishes of 1,000 less privileged children, ranging from new school shoes and bags to household groceries. 1,000 youths were also involved in this symbolic walk to do their part towards this meaningful cause.

Mr Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security, flagged off the participants and joined beneficiaries from low-income families for a fun-filled day at the zoo.

In partnership with the POSB PAssion Kids Fund, each walk completed by a youth will be matched by corporate donations that go towards fulfilling wishes of the children.

North West – POSB SavingStars Programme

This programme was jointly organised by North West CDC, POSB, Care Corner and The NUS Centre for Social Development (Asia), set to match savings and provide money management mentorship for children from low income families. These children underwent an 18-months programme to cultivate good saving habits.

"SavingStars is cool, awesome and interesting. The teachers taught us things that we did not know before. I have also learnt more about 'needs' and 'wants'" – Pei Jun Yu, 13 years old

Tinker Kit

Children from low income families attended training in creativity development and art making through workshops organised by volunteers. The programme provided opportunities for participants to bond with their peers, parents and volunteers, and a platform to showcase their artwork at a pop-up exhibition.

Children's Charity Carnival

This event aimed to empower children to envision their aspirations. Through roleplays, games and hands-on activities brought by partners and government agencies, children learnt more about various occupations and lifeskills. They captured these visions through canvas painting which were then exhibited at Paya Lebar Kovan CC. Drop by to see them today!

3D Tronics Challenge

3D Tronics Challenge aimed to stimulate students’ interest in science and technology. Students attended workshops on robotics, 3D design and printing lessons and participated in a competition which enabled them to showcase their acquired skills.
