Promoting Active Ageing

POSB Active Neighbours

This programme was introduced in 2009 with Council for Third Age (C3A) to promote active lifestyle and lifelong learning for retired seniors through part time work opportunities. The seniors who are above 45 years old are hired and trained as POSB’s digital ambassadors. They proactively encourage and assist senior customers to adopt digital banking. There are currently more than 70 Active Neighbours at our POSB branches.

Provide Digital Literacy Training to Seniors

To ensure that seniors in our community are not left behind in the changing payments landscape, POSB has collaborated with various community partners such as C3A, IMDA and PA to familiarise seniors with digital banking services.

The workshop titled “Introduction to Digital Banking”, is a SkillsFuture credit approved course and seniors may approach their nearest Community Club to register their interest.

Raising Awareness of Dementia at POSB Branches

As the society is experiencing the impact of a rapidly ageing population, over 1,000 branch staff have attended training on Mental Wellness by speakers from ‘Forget Us Not’. In addition, selected POSB Champions gained deeper understanding on how to handle persons showing signs of dementia, conducted by the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC).

POSB also collaborates with partners Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and Office of the Public Guardian to provide joint Mental Wellness talks to Seniors who would like to find out more about the effects of Dementia and what they can do to protect their assets. Seniors who are keen may approach your nearest Community Centre to express interest.

To do our part to build a senior friendly community, POSB staff regularly volunteers to spend time with Seniors in homes and befriender centres to engage the seniors in activities and conversations.
