Fondly known as the People's Bank, POSB is committed to community outreach and improving the lives of Singaporeans. Over the years, we have championed community development and financial literacy for people of all ages. In addition to bank-led efforts that bring communities together, our branch managers and officers also play an active role in engaging with the local communities.

Key highlights:

Digital Literacy – Active AgersSince 2012, POSB has been proactively equipping Active Agers (aged 60 and above) with digital literacy skills. Over the years, we’ve empowered more than 500,000 seniors to navigate the digital world with confidence.Our early community workshops focused on general banking services, such as the use of self-service banking machines. As the payment landscape evolved—particularly in the wake of COVID-19—our efforts have expanded to include practical tips on scam prevention and digital security. This includes hands-on training with POSB digiVault (ABS’s equivalent of a digital money lock) to safeguard customers against scams. We also introduced other key security features such as payment controls and regular security checkups. In addition, participants receive guided training on using POSB digibank, DBS PayLah!, and POSB PayNow.POSB remains dedicated to providing lifelong learning opportunities for Active Agers, ensuring inclusivity through close collaboration with key community partners such as People's Association, The Infocomm Media Development Authority (part of the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI)), RSVP Singapore, and Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA). These collaborations are facilitated through community workshops and events. 2023We introduced the POSB #YourNeighbourhoodGetai ePayment Learning Journey (EPLJ), an engaging edutainment program for the Active Agers in the heartlands. This unique programme blends traditional Getai performances with practical anti-scam tips and digital payment education. To date, we have completed over 11 POSB Getai EPLJs in various heartland and community locations, including Mei Ling, Nanyang Estate, Bedok, Tiong Bahru, Chinatown, Ang Mo Kio, Toa Payoh and Bukit Panjang, benefiting more than 3,000 active agers. Financial Literacy Workshops – School for Special Education

POSB PAssion Run For Kids

Jointly organised with the People’s Association (PA), POSB PAssion Run for Kids is Singapore’s longest-running race of its kind. Last year’s event featured a variety of fun-filled activities, including themed carnival tents, interactive games, and educational workshops. Participants not only enjoyed a day of fitness and fun but also had the opportunity to support local charities and environmental initiatives, making it a meaningful way for families to give back while stay active together.Since the inception of the POSB PAssion Kids Fund, we have raised close to S$16 million to date, benefiting 1.3 million children through 302 community programmes. These initiatives support children from low-income families, children with disabilities, and youths at risk—helping to build social capital and drive long-term community development.

Launched in 2024 – POSB PAssion LitSavers ProgrammeThe POSB Passion LitSavers Programme is designed to foster financial literacy and promote regular saving habits among children in collaboration with PA, including youths from vulnerable and at-risk backgrounds. Fully funded by the POSB Passion Kids Fund, this three-year programme aims to equip 11,000 children aged 5 to 16 with essential money management skills and nurture lifelong saving habits, incorporating the use of Smart Buddy.

YEAH (Youths Engaged at Heartland) Programme
The Tampines West Community Club’s YEAH programme supports students aged 9-12 from challenging backgrounds who exhibit behavioral issues. This initiative focuses on developing life skills and capabilities essential for character development, civic engagement, and academic success.

"I've been on this programme since Primary 4. I am in Primary 6 this year. I like the YEAH Programme because I get to play Badminton with my friends and there are coaches who have helped me along the way. I also like the cooking class because I get to learn new things and get to make scrambled eggs at home. Since I joined YEAH, I have improved as a person through the character development classes."

I am very thankful for this award because it serves as evidence of my hard work for the past three years. Clearly, I would not have been able to achieve this recognition without the help and support of my family, friends, and lecturers.

I chose this course as it is where my interest lies, for I have always wondered how the global market worked and the reasoning behind some economic actions taken by the government. I had been consistently working part-time to help ease my parents’ burden on my tuition fee. I have continued to do so even though it got more difficult to balance my work and studies in my third year. There are times when I really wanted to give up, but I am glad that I did not. By continuously pushing myself, I have become more resilient and discipline in both my studies and work.

I hope that in the future, I would continue to be diligent in learning, be it for academic purpose, or to upgrade my other skills. This award serves as a recognition to my diligence and a reminder to work hard and improve on myself.
