What steps does your recipient need to take to successfully receive funds through Weixin (WeChat)?

Recipient Registration: To receive funds successfully in Weixin (WeChat), your recipient will need to have a Recipient Card in the “跨境汇款 微汇款” Mini Program. Please remind them to set up the receiving function to enable fund transfers. Refer to the step-by-step registration guide by Weixin (WeChat).

How to receive notifications or check your order status?

How to add overseas funds transfer recipient?

There are various channels which you may add overseas funds transfer recipient with us. The most convenient method would be via digibank mobile. Please follow this step-by-step guide for more information.

Please note that there will a 12-hour cooling period for adding a new transfer recipient. With this 12-hour cooling period, it gives you a window to detect and report any suspicious activity if anyone tries to make unauthorised changes to your account. You will be able to transfer funds to the new transfer recipient or up to your new transfer limits, only after the cooling period is over.

How to transfer funds overseas to your recipient?

Step 1:
Launch digibank and tap Overseas Transfers.


Step 2:
Select your recipient and enter the amount.


Step 3:
Review your transfer details and click Transfer now.

Who can you transfer funds to using DBS Remit?

You can transfer funds to Weixin (WeChat) users who are verified with one of the following identification documents:

  • Mainland China Second-Generation Resident Identity Card
  • Mainland China Permanent Resident Identity Card
  • Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents
  • Passport (excluding passports issued by Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan)
Can you withdraw funds from your Weixin (WeChat) wallet?

Please note that funds held in the Weixin (WeChat) are subject to the WeChat Payment System User Service Agreement.

Funds in the balance can only be withdrawn to a bank account in Mainland China.

What to indicate under ‘Purpose of transfer’ when transferring funds to your recipient?

This service is for individual customers and may only be used for personal savings or household expenses. It is not permitted for business or commercial payments.

What information do you need about your recipient?

You will need the recipient’s Weixin (WeChat) mobile number and full name, as reflected on their Recipient Card in the “跨境汇款 微汇款” Mini Program.

Is there any transfer limits which you need to take note of when transferring funds to your recipient?
  • Transfer limits to Weixin (WeChat) Wallet users in Mainland China:
    • Maximum of CNY 50,000 per transfer
    • Maximum of 15 transfers per month to any Weixin (WeChat) wallet user
    • Maximum annual limit of CNY 800,000
  • Identifying Transfers to Weixin (WeChat) Wallets:
    • Recipients can identify credits to their Weixin (WeChat) Wallet using the 16-character Transaction Reference Number provided by DBS (e.g., "XXXXOTXXXXXXXXXX", where "X" is a numerical value and "OT" are letters).
How to track your remittance?

Step 1: Log in to digibank with your Touch / Face ID or digibank User ID & PIN..

Step 2: Tap on Pay & Transfer followed by the Overseas icon.

Step 3: Tap on Transfer status to view status of your remittance.
